OUR HISTORY

Bill and Phyllis Livingston purchased Jayhawk Clothing Company on February 21, 1969. They offered new and used suits, tuxedo rental, dry cleaning, pressing, and alterations. In April 1972, the name of the business was changed to Jawhawk Formalwear and Livingston’s Formal Fashions for Men. In 1977 the men’s clothing line was closed and the name was changed to Livingston’s Formal Fashions.

Phyllis Livingston opened Bridal Gallery in January 1984. In 1989, Bridal Gallery became incorporated into Livingston’s, Inc. and the store was named Livingston’s Formal Fashions and Bridal Gallery. In 1992, they moved to the present location in the Hillsdale Shopping Center, located at 17th and Fairlawn in Topeka.

Current owners Paul & Cindy Shafer purchased the business in 2002 and renamed the business Livingston’s Tuxedo & Bridal Gallery. We continue to be a family owned and operated store that serves Topeka and most of northeast Kansas.

OUR BUSINESS 

Livingston’s specializes in attire for many special events including: weddings, quincineras, and first Holy Communion, proms, fraternity formals, cruises, anniversaries, holiday parties and country club events.  We are the official formal wear provider to The Topeka Civic Theatre, Kansas University Choral Dept., and Ballet Midwest, as well as many area High School orchestra and choral ensembles.

• We are an authorized dealer for wedding designers Maggie Sottero, Alfred Angelo, Mon Cheri, Private Label by G, Impression and Casablanca.
• We carry prom dresses as well as special occasion gowns.
• We have very spacious, private mirrored dressing rooms.
• We do professional, affordable gown and dress alteration on-site with FREE hand pressing.
• We carry dye to match shoes, jewelry, lingerie, invitations and other wedding accessories.
• We are the ONLY area tuxedo professional with an on-site warehouse that enables us to offer an in-stock selection by famous designers such as Ralph Lauren, Perry Ellis, Oscar de La Renta, After Six and Claiborne.
• Our tuxedos are altered in store and professionally cleaned by Hygienic Cleaners.
• We offer wedding gown preservation, as well as professional dry cleaning services for band uniforms, choral robes and theatrical costumes.
• We serve as one stop shopping for the entire bridal party.
