roller blinds A Step by Step Guide to Fitting Roller BlindsRoller blinds can really be the perfect finishing touch for any decorated room in the home. Fitting roller blinds in the home is not as hard as one may first assume.

The first thing to consider is which side the chord will hang on the blind. This could depend on the type of window frame you are fitting it to, or simply personal preference. The blind should already have been measured to ensure that it fits the window you want to decorate, however in some cases, trimming of the blind at both sides may be required.

Equipment:

  • Screwdriver
  • Pencil
  • Drill
  • Spirit level
  • Scissors (if trimming is needed)

Step 1 – Mark out, with the pencil, the positioning of the screw holes on each bracket on top of the window. Check if there is enough clearance to allow for a smooth opening.  Mark the screw holes on bracket one and place the end of the blind cord or pin on the preferred side. Use the drill to create holes on the first bracket, insert masonry or wood rawl plugs, and screw this bracket into the frame or wall.

Step 2 – Use the spirit level to ensure the blind is perfectly level, or measure the positioning of bracket one and transfer this information to the opposite side. The next step is to fit bracket two; this can be done by following the first step.

Step 3 – Now piece the side control and end plugs into the end of each roller after checking that they are being placed on the right side. Finally, slot the blind into place on each bracket.
